Enhancement To The PR Application Process With Effect From 26 June 2024

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore has implemented recent changes to the Permanent Residency (PR) application process, effective from 26 June 2024. These changes have been put in place to streamline and enhance the procedure.

The application will now be completed entirely online, simplifying the submission process for applicants. Here are some important highlights regarding the recent updates to the permanent resident application process.

The Form 4A application form is now obsolete. The previous requirement for Annex A, which detailed company information, is no longer applicable. Additionally, applicants must provide comprehensive family information for both applicants and non-applicants, ensuring a thorough review of familial ties. The validity period for the Employment Letter has been extended to three months, providing more flexibility for applicants. For self-employed individuals, the information of company financial details and a business registration certificate is now mandatory, ensuring the authenticity and financial stability of their businesses. These changes are designed to make the application process more efficient and ensure that all necessary information is adequately captured.

Given these recent changes updates, it would be strongly beneficial to have a specialist assisting you to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience. Immigration processes can be intricate, and recent changes might introduce new requirements or procedures that could potentially delay or complicate your application. A specialist who is knowledgeable and familiar with these updates can provide invaluable guidance, ensuring that all documentation is prepared correctly and submitted on time. Working with a specialist will not only save you time and effort but also provide you with peace of mind knowing that your application is in capable hands, maximizing the likelihood of a successful outcome for your PR application.

Important Note For Applicants With Sons

  1. National service is one aspect of Singapore’s permanent residence that concerns many foreigners with young sons.
  2. Under the Enlistment Act, all male Singapore citizens and permanent residents are liable to register for national service at age 16 and a half. They must serve two years when they are 18.
  3. This is followed by 40 days of Operationally Ready National Service every year until they are 50 for officers and 40 for other ranks.
  4. On average, 500 young men who obtain permanent residence through their parents enter compulsory national service each year.

Though it is always advisable to apply Singapore PR as a family nucleus, it is still possible to apply Singapore PR without your children should you be able to provide a good reason not to. Speak to us if you would like to know more.
