Bringing Your Family Members to Singapore
Are you currently residing in Singapore and planning to bring your non-Singaporean parents/spouse/children here to Singapore too? Then you might want to consider applying for either the Dependent Pass or the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) for them. Before deciding on whether to bring your family here with you to Singapore, do also take into consideration Singapore’s high cost of living.
For work pass (such as EP, SPass, PEP and EntrePass) holders, the most common pass to apply for your spouse or children would be the Dependant’s Pass (DP). For dependents of an EP/SPass/PEP holder, the pass holder must be employed and working in a well-established firm in Singapore and earn at least 6,000 SGD. For dependents of Entrepass holders, the pass holder must have created 3 or more jobs for Singaporeans, exceed 100,000 SGD of business spending, earn 6,000 SGD or more and successfully pass the first-year visa renewal. For your parents, you will have to submit an application for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) for them.
On the other hand, for parents, spouse or children of a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident (PR), you will just have to apply for a LTVP. For successful LTVP holders, they will need to renew their LTVP at least 2 months before the expiration of the current LTVP; and for first timer applicants, they should apply for an LTVP with at least 10 days remaining on their Visit Pass.
With regards to the LTVP application process, you will need to prepare and submit several documents for the applicant, the sponsor and/or sponsor’s spouse (if applicable). The sponsor will need to have access to their Singpass account and set up the Two Factor Authentication (2FA), before they can submit the LTVP application online using the e-Service. Both applicant and sponsor will also need to complete a form of consent and submit it to ICA, to verify the applicant’s and sponsor’s financial information with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and/or the Central Provident Fund Board of Singapore. The applicant and/or sponsor may also be contacted by ICA for any additional documents or to arrange for an interview. The fee for this visa application is 30 SGD, and it is a non-refundable processing fee for each application. Normally, the LTVP will be processed within six weeks.
