The Red Book starts with foreign coins that circulated as money in the British colonies starting in the 1600s.
Each album is sturdy, soil-resistant, and features Whitman’s signature grained leatherette cover in a limited edition pink. Clear plastic slides safeguard both sides of each coin, while convenient thumb notches on the edge of each page allow for easy removal.
Robert Friedberg (1912-1963) was the first to standardize this subject and gave this book a permanent place on reference shelves. It was also the first book to ever show illustrations of U.S. currency.
